GRIEF AND LOSS COUNSELLING

grief-counselling-services-6Grief counselling uses therapeutic strategies to help clients move through emotions related to their loss in a healthy and supportive environment.

Grief can be expressed in many ways and can be related to the death or loss of a loved one, a pet, job or a goal.

Clients are supported to accept the loss, adjust to their life after their loss, and to cope with the internal and external changes to their daily lives moving forward.

Typically feelings experienced by a grieving client include sadness, anxiety, anger, loneliness, guilt, relief, isolation, confusion, and numbness and they may also feel lethargic and unmotivated to do things which they previously enjoyed.

Loss of appetite, disturbed sleep and trouble focusing are also common experiences felt by those going through grief and loss.

Clients may find themselves having dreams, nightmares and they may also fantasise or day dream about the deceased or event.

Counselling can provided a supportive role in grief recovery and help clients move through the feelings, thoughts, and memories associated with their particular loss and explore what this means to them, helping to adjust to their loss and experience positive forward movement.
